Greg Waters and The Broad Street Boogie
With influences ranging from Ben Harper to Stevie Wonder to Paul Simon to The Allman Brothers, Greg Waters & The Broad Street Boogie have a diverse roots-retro vibe that is extremely contagious. “We’re all in it together right? It’s about everybody having a little fun and getting down to the roots,” Waters says of the live performances. “I think we have a little something for everybody.” This is quite apparent in the Boogie’s ability to belt out a 2 minute song or slide through a 10 minute improvisational jam.
The Broad Street Boogie brings a number of musical weapons to their live shows: jazz/funk drumming, southern rock guitar licking, diverse keyboards, thick vocal harmonies, experience, and a real love of the game. This sort of diversity and passion for music has really captured audiences over the past year and a half throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest.
Over a 20 year span (which includes 14 years as frontman for the Midwest favorites, The Cool Waters Band), Waters has recorded over a dozen albums and toured nearly a quarter of the country. “I don’t hit the open road quite as often any more, but I still love making the music,” admits Waters. His latest album, “Disappear” can be found at gregwatersmusic.com.
The Waters Bros and Casey Jones
This acoustic trio began in April of 2007 as an excuse to have a little fun. Greg was asked to bring music into Jimmy Seas in Green Bay for a Thursday night experiment, and this group is the result of that. Since then, their 3 part harmonies have eased their way into various tiki bars, patios, and lake decks throughout Wisconsin. The Waters Bros and Casey Jones perform covers from all genres and eras as well as some originals. The group occasionally performs with a hand percussionist and bass player.
You can find the Waters Bros and Casey Jones schedule here.
Fat Man's Inn
This band was formed circa 1992 and featured Greg on vocals and guitar, Mike Cool on bass, and Richard Stadler on drums. Fat Man's Inn put together roughly 8 songs which they performed throughout the valley to various drunken high schoolers who didn't know better than to shout and clap for the more. Upon High School Graduation, the band broke up. Richard went on to school and now is a part owner in Kohl's Department Stores. Mike and Greg went on to form The Cool Waters Band with Dan Waters.
